Engineering & Articulation System
Our engineering team designed the MAFEX Evangelion Unit-01 with a proprietary joint system that balances stability with extreme posability. The shoulder joints use a triple-axis ball socket that allows the arms to achieve the wide, aggressive stances seen in combat sequences. Double-jointed elbows and knees bend beyond 90 degrees, while ankle rockers and toe articulation give you the foundation for one-legged landing poses.
The torso features an ab-crunch joint hidden beneath the chest armor, maintaining the EVA’s sleek silhouette while enabling forward and backward bends. We’ve reinforced every joint with metal pins rather than plastic pegs to prevent loosening over time. The purple armor plates are cast in color-matched ABS plastic, not painted, so repeated posing won’t cause paint wear on friction points.

Progressive Knife
The MAFEX Evangelion Unit-01 includes both sheathed and unsheathed versions of the Progressive Knife with metallic silver paint on the blade. The knife stores in the left shoulder pylon exactly as shown in the series, and the unsheathed version fits securely in the dedicated weapon-grip hands. We’ve sculpted subtle panel lines and rivets on the handle for authenticity.
Pallet Rifle
Our Pallet Rifle accessory features a removable magazine and moving trigger guard. The rifle measures 90mm in length and includes painted detail on the barrel vents and optical scope. Two rifle-grip hands are included specifically sized for this weapon.
Paint Application & Finishing
We apply eleven separate paint masks during production to achieve the MAFEX Evangelion’s signature color scheme. The purple armor uses a semi-gloss finish that catches light like the animation cells, while the green accents on the head and torso receive a slightly darker shade for depth. Orange details on the chest and helmet are hand-painted by our factory team.
Metallic silver paint highlights the mouth grille, knee vents, and spine details. The eyes are painted in fluorescent green with a clear gloss topcoat that simulates the EVA’s bioluminescent optics. Every head sculpt is individually inspected under UV light to catch any paint bleed or misalignment before packaging.

The umbilical cable is completely removable and connects via a 3mm port on Unit-01's back. You can display the EVA with or without the cable depending on your preferred scene recreation. The cable contains internal wire for natural draping and coiling.
